ClearLooks For Windows XP

This visual style has a very Linux-y feel to it. That is how it was intended to be, the theme is a port of the Linux theme by the same name.

The taskbar is broad compared to the thinner Linux original. The part I found best was the start button, which is completely different from anything windows, and is a welcome change that looks good and goes pretty well with the whole Linux look. The Log Off and Turn Off icons have been changed. The font size is small and complements the visual style.

It has a flat, non-3d, two tone look implemented in a way that would appeal greatly to most users, even those who used to fancy themes. Released under the GPL license, this theme gives you the option of tweaking it as you like. Very Linux!

This updated package includes two versions of the visual style along with Y’z toolbar themes and an xFree cursor set. Certain bugs in the Ubuntu color scheme in previous versions have been fixed. It is a visual style so you will need a third party application like StyleXP to use it.

Vista Theme For XP

A Windows Vista look for Windows XP users.

I know a lot of people including myself who still prefer using XP and not Vista, but agree to the fact that the visual appeal of Vista is quite high. This is a neatly executed theme that gives you a feel of Windows Vista, all with the gloss and reflections.

There are certain elements lacking though, which could make it a lot more Vista-like. For starters, the start button is rather awkward. No graphics, just a black box. Some text, or better, a Windows logo would have looked great. The next is a personal opinion about the rounded corners. They look pretty good on XP otherwise, but they just don’t seem to fit here, especially since it is supposed to look like Vista.

A bit like certain songs that may seem rather boring (or in this case, minimalist) initially, but grow on you with time. Overall, a simple, good looking theme targeted mainly towards Windows XP users who want a feel of Vista, without an entire transformation, plus a neat uncluttered interface.

Lots of people still use the classic Windows look whether they’re using Windows XP or Windows Vista. The simplicity and ease of use was great, particularly because of the uncluttered interface.

This Windows theme, although not the classic Windows look, gives an ultra simple look to your desktop. At first sight you may not notice much of a difference, but use it for a while and try switching back, and then you’ll notice the subtleties. This is a kind of theme one would have wanted to use on their Windows 98/2000 desktop to give it a visually appealing finish while still keeping the ease of use intact. The theme gives you two colour choices – blue and black, with two further styles in each colour. The side buttons in the Start menu (Help and Support, Search, Control Panel etc.) are accompanied by text in one style, and are without labels in the other. Both styles differ in terms of the Start button as well. The ‘Log Off’ and ‘Shutdown’ buttons are something that could’ve been done much better. They’re a bit too small compared to all other icons and buttons in the Start menu.

A simple looking theme, 7/10 from my side.

A theme that gives you a dock mac-style, but still retains the characteristic windows feel.

This is a black metal based Windows theme, but not one that gives you a black feel. The common icons like drives and folders have been modified to have an even more futuristic albeit sleek look, retaining the same black metallic luster. The icons and default images, for instance, the computer image in “Computer” as shown in the image, I find, have been done very neatly and are most impressive. This is one of the things I like most about Vista overall. The looks make you feel good.

This free skin adds to the feel good factor. Transparencies in the Start menu and title bars & tool bars have been implemented wonderfully, without hampering text legibility. The address bar and search bar text however is a little hard to read, a common problem with a lot of Vista themes out there which attempt to add transparency to text fields. The dock looks very neat, is sized appropriately, and is a pleasant change. My favourite part is the icons and images, and I rate it at 8/10.

ClearBlack2 by Butch123

This Windows theme creates a unique and unheard of ambience, and the look it gives to your system is totally worth it! As the name suggests, it mostly turns your desktop black. Everything, from the task bar to the start menu to title bars and almost everything else you can think of has something black to do with it

Being totally up to date, this theme pack has two versions for Vista; one with the transparent explorer and the other containing a solid background, suit yourself! ( I myself find the solid one looks better ) Of course you can add your own widgets and gadgets, but black ones tend to go well with ClearBlack 2. Also, it produces a kind of ‘techie’ feel, so you would want to add hi-tech advanced looking gizmos. Tech-freaks will love this for sure!

This is a completely updated version with no bugs found as of now. It looks great, but I personally would have liked it better if something new had been done about the standard icons…they pretty much look the same. The initial response has been pretty enthusiastic though, and the ‘Men in Black’ will love it for sure! I’d rate ClearBlack2 at 7/10.

This is the last update of LongVista theme thats based on Diamond Theme for Vista II.

Any nature lover is sure to enjoy this beautiful view of this desert landscape under a clear blue sky. The detail and resolution is excellent. You really can’t get the full effect until you see the full view (by clicking on the image), as it will appear on your computer screen.

This Windows Vista theme also does a nice job of creating a fancy sidebar if you haven’t disabled that feature like some of us. This skin is only supports Vista but you can download the Windows Theme Patcher to install it on your XP operating system.

Is purple your favorite color? You may not want this free Windows theme if it isn’t. The Purple Windows Ver 2.0 Vista lives up to it’s name with choices of purple tinted backgrounds, a very purple sidebar, and of course purple themed windows.

Purple Windows Ver 2.0, as a vista theme, says one thing as soon as you see it. Purple. If you’re not into purple, I guess it’s not a theme for you. But don’t expect a plain bland purple theme after reading this - the theme has a good feel about it, with good amounts of transparency and funky icons. It comes with purple tinted backgrounds and adds a nice feel to your computer.

And it’s not your average girly purple theme - because on the one hand it seems quite friendly, and warming. But it also looks quite sharp, and practical. This is a very useful quality to have in a theme, as you can now say that your computer’s “personal” - but it looks like it’s ready for buisness. You can’t say no to that, can you?

Even if you don’t usually choose purple for clothes or possesions, this Windows Vista theme might still suit your computer. It’s rather exclusive, and it’s hard to tell just how much you’ll like it until you’ve loaded it up on your screen and checked out the backgrounds. Who knows, you might just have a secret passion for it. SSo I say give it a try, make your computer different. Make your computer purple. Go for it.

You could call this one “exclusive”, as I did a search for it and didn’t find any results; at least nothing that provided a download link. So, get your purple skin on. You can always change it and you never know how much you’ll like it until you try it…right?

This Aero Simplicity Windows Vista theme contains 4 different themes and features awesome 4 different backgrounds, and contains a mac style navigation at the top and gloss transparent taskbar , i really like the tiger background.

Now the Aero Simplicity UPDATED version does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s light, with transparency and clean menus, and it’s very simple. I’m the kind of person that looks for a clean, practical and simple look to my computer, and with this, you get that. What makes it so neat?

Well, it’s got a mac style menu, which you might love or hate. Both ways there’s no denying it looks good. If you’re used to macs, then this could work for you. It certainly makes the desktop look cleaner as theres no mob of files on the left hand side of your computer. The menus and taskbar have got just the right amount of transparency, and there aren’t any jagged edges. The theme comes with a clock and calendar at the side, and it’s available in a variety of colours.

If you’re like me, and you enjoy practical, simple themes, which looks great, this one is for you. It really looks very professional yet clean, and I love it. I would also recommend this free Windows Visa theme if you own a company and you want all the computers to have the same theme. You can have some variety with the colours of course, but other than that they will all be the same, all equally efficient.

ReSkull - finally a theme that makes your computer look personal. Not only that, it looks great. With awesome icons and a mac navigation style, on paper you could call this theme professional, and maybe almost emotionless. But there’s plenty of emotion within this badboy, which has ditched the standard start button and replaced with a skull. And the mac navigation style only makes it more personal, because the icons are large and it’s stretched out across the screen.

There’s quite a lot of transparency here, and I like that in a theme. Especially with the background provided, it really works. Although this theme is making your computer personal again, it’s not cutting back on making your computer efficient. The Icons are great. For example, if you open your music folder, you’ll find large folder icons, with albums inside. I’m a huge music fan, and I’m seriously recommending downloading this if you are. Because If you have an iPod, and you use iTunes, you’ll know how messy folders can get. Not anymore, ReSkull has solved that.

So it’s clean, efficient, yet personal. As soon as you’ve downloaded this theme, and installed it, start using your computer with pride. Seriously recommended, 5 out of 5 for style.

When thinking of how to describe the Mugen mix Vista Theme, one word repeatedly came to mind. Stylish. If you’re big on simplicity and things like big icons, this is worth looking at. It’s got a mac style navigation - although in my opinion it looks a lot better than the standard mac navigation - which only adds to the stylishness.

And everything is rounded. The corners of windows, are rounded. The start menu corners, are rounded. Even the start menu button, which coincidentally is back to the XP style, is rounded. This makes everything seem simpler and more modern. I personally think this theme is worth downloading just to see how it looks - and you’ll probably keep it.

Another great thing with this theme is that it doesn’t demand a certain type of background. In the preview of course, there’s an Assasins Creed Background, but i’d love to see the theme with a skyline behind it. Or a city skape. Or mountains. Whatever you’re in to, it’ll probably look great. And you don’t get that with mose themes.

Overall, the theme looks great. Rounded corners, big icons, a lovely mac style navigation stretched along the bottom of the screen. Could it do with a little big more transparency? Maybe. Is it awesome, regardless?  Definitely.

The Aerial Transparence is a theme which seems to have achieved something that people have been craving for in terms of their theme. It’s Transparent, simple, light, but boy is it ready to do buisness.

As a designer and content creator, I’m constantly on the look for programs to download. Trials for photoshop, Office 2007, you name it, I’m trying to get it. And it seems everything is slowed down by icons which are too fancy for their own good. Windows which won’t tell me how to get to the desktop.

And that’s really the reason why i’m considering the Aerial Transparence as my perfect theme. It’s practical. Practical and stylish. I don’t like messing around with fancy but useless things on my computer. I want to cut out the crap and get to the point. And before seeing this theme, the only way I could do that was to revert to something like Windows Classic, and sacrifice a good looking computer.

But no more, the slave period has ended. Download this free Windows Vista theme, and get to work. No more punching your keyboard, no more smacking your head on the screen. I’ve fallen in love with this theme, and I thought I was previously satisfied. Give it a chance, see what it does for you.
